Java Technical Lead, Central London – Up to £95k DOE plus benefits

They are in need of a top-quality Java Technical Lead to assist in sending the business even further forward.

Part of an exciting new tech investment, this agency is now looking for a strong and experienced Java Technical Lead to work in a Scrum Agile team building the companies next generation of scalable SaaS products using the latest architectural patterns and practices, development frameworks, cloud technologies and software delivery practices. This Java Technical Lead will work alongside other back-end developers to build a number of scalable micro-services exposed to the front-end via a RESTful API.

This Java Technical Lead will:

- Collaborate with your team to analyse, design and ship new features
- Use Java J2EE and Google Cloud Platform technologies to build and deliver a range of scalable micro-services exposed through a RESTful API
- Build code using a test-first/TDD/BDD approach maintaining a high level of automated test coverage
- Collaborate with DevOps to build a comprehensive set of CI/CD pipelines that allow the team to deliver features on a continual basis
- Contribute and help define coding standards within the team and wider department

As Java Technical Lead, you’ll need to:

- Be highly experienced at building scalable enterprise-level solutions with Java J2EE
- Have experience using cloud PaaS preferably Google Cloud Platform
- Have experience using cloud-based server-less technologies, message queues, caching technology, object storage solutions, data storage solutions (relational and NoSQL), API gateways, containers and container ecosystems
- Have experience developing RESTful API
- Object Orientated Design (OOD) and Programming (OOP)
- Have experience working with relational DBs such as Microsoft SQL, Oracle, Cloud Spanner. Ideally NoSQL experience
- Have experience with XML and JSON data formats
- Be highly proficient at writing code with a TDD approach using JUnit and experience working in projects achieving a high level of test automation preferably using a BDD approach
- Have experience working in strong cross-functional and self-organising Scrum Agile teams
- Have experience with Git-based source control
- Have a solid understanding of common web vulnerabilities and the strategies and techniques to avoid them
- Have the ability to mentor other team members with technical practices and development skills
- Have desire to keep abreast of technical and industry developments
