Head of Product Development (liquid filtration), Ipswich – Up to £50k

This fast-growing and innovative manufacturer in the environmental protection sector is looking to expand at pace. The produce products that neutralises hydrocarbon pollutants. This business recruit on attitude and prides itself on having a friendly but professional environment.

This Head of Product Development will focus on enhancing their existing products and develop new ones, with a strong focus on sustainable materials and waste disposal.

We’re looking for a highly motivated Product Development Manager to join their team and take a hands-on role leading and managing their product development efforts. With the opportunity to work closely with senior leadership, you'll have the chance to make a significant impact on the direction of the company. This Head of Product Development’s responsibilities will include:

• Lead and ultimately manage the product development team, including recruiting and managing junior staff as the company grows

• Drive product development projects from conception to launch, ensuring that they meet customer needs and are delivered on time and within budget

• Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the market and customer needs, and use this knowledge to drive product innovation and identify new growth opportunities

• Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g. sales, marketing, engineering, and manufacturing) to ensure that product development aligns with overall company strategy and goals

• Manage project timelines, budgets, and resources, and report on progress to senior leadership

• Ensure that all products meet regulatory and safety requirements

• Conduct market research to identify new product opportunities and analyse competitor offerings

• Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and partners

• Continuously evaluate and improve product development processes, tools, and methodologies to increase efficiency and effectiveness

• Monitor industry trends and incorporate relevant developments into product development strategies


This Head of Product Development will have:


• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering, Product Design, Business Administration, or a related field

• Relevant professional certifications (e.g. Project Management Professional)

• Strong project management skills, including the ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously

• Solid understanding of product development processes and methodologies

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Proficiency in using project management and collaboration tools (e.g. JIRA, Asana, Trello, Slack)

• Creative and innovative thinker, with a passion for developing new products and bringing them to market

• Strong leadership skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate team members

• Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

• Growth mindset, confident and pragmatic approach with the ability to convey and communicate ideas in a sound coherent format
